@BraKweku_15: The hypocrisy some of U have with you is too much, it’s took almost 3 years before you organized your#DumsorMustStopVigil in 2016, in less than 4 months since this small power interruption started and you are organizing dumsormuststopvigil, you just want 2 b relevant that’s it

@Quajomensa: The “dumsor” I witnessed under President Mahama is nothing to be compared with what’s happening now. You can call this one “sordum “. But hey…I’m rooting for the hawkers who’re gonna be making quick money. Less I forget…the “sordum” has stopped. But for the sake of hawkers,go.

@Cobby14030677: i’m not against this demo neither am i an npp/ndc supporter, but i want to ask ,is dumsor really happening in this country?

Background

In 2015, Yvonne Nelson embarked on a Dumsor Must Stop protest against the John Dramani Mahama-led administration.

The demo was a call on the then government government to fix the unstable power supply after four years of power outages.

Amidst the return of the chronic power outages in the country, netizens called out Yvonne Nelson to action just as she did during the previous administration.

On April 30, 2024, Yvonne Nelson released a press statement, calling on all Ghanaians to join her in organising a vigil to protest the government and fix ‘Dumsot’.

In the presser, Yvonne revealed that she is concerned that those who supported her in 2015 now have a soft spot for the current government, making them deny her help.

Police File Injunction Against Yvonne Nelson’s Dumsor Must Stop Vigil

Earlier, Yvonne Nelson and her team scheduled the Dumsor Must Stop Vigil on Saturday, May 25, 2024.

Nelson’s team, as required by law, sought the concern of the Ghana Police Service to notify them of the intended protest.

After the meeting, the police filed an injunction on the protest, opposing the route suggested by Yvonne Nelson’s team, claiming the proposed endpoint, ‘Revolution Square’, is close to the Jubilee House, which is a security zone.
